You can submit your Zine(s) for the new collection at any time now!

Look below for the submission form and guidelines.

Having launched in October 2022, the West Michigan Voices Zine Collection (a special collection of Hackley Public Library’s Local History Department) aims to be a creative outlet for adults 18 and older living in West Michigan, and an amplifier of marginalized voices in our communities. This special collection will consist of submissions from adults living in West Michigan, and these submissions will be available for patrons to read while in the library.

Since zines are inherently flimsy (given they are usually printed on regular printer paper), we will also scan each accepted submission and store them digitally in our local history collection. This means that, even when the tangible copy wears out, there will always be a digital copy of your work available online under our Local History Department! We hope this collection will show our communities that we are willing to listen and promote their stories! This is where you come in . . .

We would love to include your zines in this collection. Your stories, your family history, your thoughts, your artwork, your poetry, whatever creativity is bursting to get out, we want to put it in our collection! To submit your zine, simply go to your nearest Muskegon County library and ask for a zine submission form, or download a form at the link below.

If you are outside of Muskegon County, you can download the submission form, and send it to Hackley Public Library.

Zines can also be dropped off directly to Hackley Library!
