“PLAYNTINGS: works surfaced,” an exhibit featuring hybrid combinations of painting, drawing and sculptural components by Lily Kuonen, opens on Tuesday, Jan. 16, and runs through March 2 in the Muskegon Community College Overbrook Gallery.

Girls Who code

Hackley Public Library

Hackley Public Library is excited to launch a coding club just for girls!  We are an official host site for the international Girls Who Code organization.  The club is open to students grade 6 and up.  In the club, girls will master the basics of coding like loops, variables, functions, and conditionals to name a few.  We will meet every Monday evening starting in January through the end of May.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  Please register online at www.hackleylibrary.org or by calling 231-722-8014.

The Sweetest Sound: Sherri Winston and the Pathfinders Youth Gospel Choir

Local Author Sherri Winston hosts  a multi-media presentation incorporating an imaginative PowerPoint display, music, lively discussion and Black History trivia.  The program will weave black history’s literary figures and how their presence impacted her life.

Her recent book The Sweetest Sound has recently been named one of Kirkus magazine’s best books of the year. It is coming out in January in paperback.
