Dancing with the Local Stars

Holiday Inn-Muskegon Harbor

Muskegon’s highly popular charity event, Dancing with the Local Stars, is back for its 10th star-studded year and accepting applications from local food pantries and food programs.The event, produced by the Women’s Division Chamber of Commerce, benefits food pantries and food programs in Muskegon, upper Ottawa and lower Oceana counties.

Celebrating its’ 13th season, The Alley Door Club at the Frauenthal Center  kicks off January 12, 2018 with live performances from an array of local bands!  Performing on select Friday nights through April, The Alley Door Club features live music from popular West Michigan bands in a fun environment which includes cash bar and dancing.  Featured in the Ballroom located on the 3rd Floor of the Hilt Building the doors open at 6pm for Happy Hour ($1 off all drinks), with live music from 7 – 10 pm.

Set on Chicago's South Side, this seminal American drama revolves around the divergent dreams and conflicts within three generations of an African-American family, the Youngers: son Walter Lee, his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and matriarch Lena. When her deceased husband's insurance money comes through, Mama Lena dreams of moving to a new home in a better neighborhood. Walter Lee, a chauffeur, has other plans: buying a liquor store and being his own man. Beneatha dreams of medical school. The Younger family's heroic struggles to retain dignity in a harsh and changing world is a searing and timeless document of hope and inspiration.

Muskegon Community College’s Center for Theater presents Jim Leonard Jr.’s award-winning play “The Diviners,” a story of the unlikely friendship between a disenchanted preacher and a mentally challenged young man, on Wednesday-Sunday, Feb. 21-25, in Overbrook Theater.
