Cadette/Senior Girl Scouts
Hackley Public Library has many resources to support Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts doing Interest Projects. HPL has 4 Internet work stations that Cadettes and Seniors can use to fulfill the technology portion of many projects. HPL also has a word processor available for use by Cadettes and Seniors.
In addition to the electronic resources HPL has books on many subjects. Cadettes and Seniors can fulfill many Skill Builder and Career Exploration portions by using books and encyclopedias from the Library's collection. HPL also has many career guides and college guides to help with the Career Exploration parts of the Interest Projects.
Some specific Interest Projects that HPL can help with are:
- Child Care: Girls can work with the Library to organize a program for children.
- Travel: Girls can create a brochure or video about the community using resources found in the Library.
- Space Exploration: Girls can design an exhibit for one of the showcases in the Library.
- Computers in Everyday Life: The Library is a business where computers are used for a variety of purposes.
- Exploring the Net: Girls can use the Library's Internet terminals to learn how to access the web, how to search, and how to be an Internet tourist, as well as learning about careers on the web, and interviewing women working on the web (the Librarians).
- Reading: Investigate careers in Library Science by interviewing the Librarians.
